Overcoming the Talent Gap for SMEs
 
In order to be competitive in a global stage, small and medium enterprises must adopt the efficiencies promised by advanced technologies, e.g., Industry 4.0, IIoT, and AI/ML. However, this requires many different skillsets, and SMEs struggle to afford a cross-functional team that can do it all. Outsourcing is also cost prohibitive as the outsourcing industry is designed for, and thus priced to suit, the Goliaths of the world. For the first time, FYELABS at McMaster University offers “outsourcing” services in a form factor specifically designed for ambitious SMEs. This session will tell the story of how FYELABS came into being, and the lessons learned in serving 30+ SMEs from around the world.
