A day in the life of a homeless youth. R.E.S.T is having it’s first annual charity walk-a-thon to raise awareness on youth homelessness, specifically in the city of Brampton, ON. A Walk In My shoes will advocate for the need of developing supports to aid those who fall in between the gaps, especially in the city of Brampton where there are no current long-term supports for this population. This fundraiser will be an experiential walk where those who participate will receive front-line knowledge on youth homelessness, and gain first-hand experience on the barriers and limitations that target these youth. Through this, R.E.S.T will gain the opportunity to educate the community on contributing barriers while breaking the stigma surrounding youth homelessness. Volunteers and participants will be able to hear from guest speakers, which range form stakeholders in the community that actively work with homeless youth to real life experiences of homeless youth themselves
